Because You Need to See This Today

be braveMy audience.

My friends.

My world.

You’re the best source of stuff. Did I mention I fucking hate the word “content”?

The best.

Today, I was sent this on Facebook by my friend Merredith. As someone who’s struggled for 40 years with being brave and saying what needs saying, I’m sharing this with you.

Who knows when someone else’s dance will help you find your groove? C’mon Stella. Let’s get this shit going.

Click here to watch the video.

PS: there is no reason for the picture of the snail other than a WTF why did this come up under a stock photo search for “brave”?

This will be my new theme song whenever I am struggling with my writing...when "the words won't just fall out" of my head!

Thanks Erika - I needed this...

Speaks to a developing meme(or so it sure *feels* like to me) me throughout 2013....'courage'.

We have all this stuff, social conditioning, constraints within ourselves(perceived and otherwise), baggage and...visions for better version of ourselves that creep up in everyday of our work.

And yet, too often, we judge ourselves as coming up short and we sense(continually) we have to be...more....'brave' and be more courageous in that work.

Not my type of music(I'm a rocker) but wonderful song, even better lyrics and nails what so many are wanting to embrace..

I have been listening to this song over and over for the last week (and India Arie's new album, which rocks). LOVE it. I may have to write a post about bravery, something that is rarely addressed with writing and put yourself out there.

You simply rock. ;-)

Thanks for that. Opening night of a brand new show and no matter how many time I do this, I still worry that I'm going to bomb. So this helped me screw my courage to the sticking-place.

Oh, and it takes some HUGE SLIMY snail balls to ooze up, unto, and over a railroad track before a train comes through and crushes it.

And I'm not even a Sarah B fan. What kind of sorcery is this?

This song has become my anthem. May you and all your readers be able to speak their truth and always be BRAVE!

Was just watching another video about where the line is for alienating your audience. There's definitely a difference between alienation and standing up for your beliefs. Thanks for the uplifting share Erika!

I've been struggling for 39 years to be brave too. How amazing and humbling to be reminded that Mother Nature does it every day. If Mother Nature can trust, maybe I (we?) can too? I wish happiness and a beautiful, brave weekend to you, Erika, and to each reader today!

Great song / video. Cute snail picture too. Curious why you don't like the word "content"? I've never thought about it before, but I had to abandon referring to myself as a copywriter... I'm sure you can understand that annoyance?

My girlfriend and I had been swapping pictures of snails all morning before I got this. Seeing one always cheers me up.

The snail is on a railroad track making its way to the other side... that takes guts when you think of how fast a snail moves versus the power of a speeding train...

And it fits very well with the Erika "braveness" meme.

There's something truly beautiful about seeing people go full out in public with their bodies like that. Thanks for sharing!

Listening again. Adding to my favorites. And oops, she made me cry again. (1:41-1:57 very powerful, that part!) ;-)

@BAMcopywriting I just think words should never be content. if you're not telling a story, what the hell are you doing? :)
