The reason I changed a flight four times in the past week is simple: I’m a raging moron with good intentions. Thankfully, Southwest Airlines doesn’t charge me for that stuff. The moral of the story is that later this month, I’m headed out on some book tour dates and then needed to get to meetings in Las Vegas (yes, MEETINGS, not a poker table), and I have a speaking event in Denver samck dab between all of those. And I forgot. So after 4 tries, I got it right. GO SOUTHWEST AIRLINES! And now, the newzzzz…
The Book Tour: Collard Greens and Fried Chicken? Damn Straight.
I’m a Southern girl, born in Opelika, Alabama and raised in Houston, Texas. When I get a chance to get my hands on some damn fine soul food, I never (ever) pass it up. So later this month, you’ll be able to catch the book tour for The Power of Unpopular in Birmingham, Alabama (yeeha!) and Atlanta, Georgia (oh, my stars and garters). Here are the details for each:
Birmingham, AL — Tuesday, April 24
Sponsored by the Alabama Social Media Association
Hill Event Center — Alabama Theatre
1811 Third Ave. N
RSVP here (attendance is FREE!) — we’ll update this link once online registration is live, but for now, please email
*** This event includes a 1-hour presentation by moi on Branding: The Inherent Power of Unpopular. We will laugh, learn, possibly cry (’cause I’m like that) and have a hoot.
Atlanta, GA — Wednesday, April 25

5:30 – 7:30pm
The Barrelhouse Midtown
22 5th Street
Atlanta, GA 30308

*** This event is a meet-and-greet, organized by the generous fans I discovered and met through TEDx Peachtree and Venture Atlanta. Show up — they’re incredible people!
Books will be for sale at both locations. Yes, I will sign them. I will write lewd things in them on demand.
And have designs on getting me to your town? Check out the Book Tour page and see what it takes!

In The Newsy-News
It’s the greatest compliment when someone reaches out and wants to talk to you about your book. Yes, I do know a great number of these folks on a personal level, but here’s the thing about personal relationships: They’ll tell you when something sucks. Which every one of these people had full rights to do, as they all received a copy of the book to review prior to granting me an interview.
Blogcast FM (freshly published TODAY!) — Thanks to Srinivas Rao for taking the time to not just read, but dig into the book.
How to Use Social Media to Help Your Company & Not Get Fired (Digital Book World, published yesterday) — They asked for my thoughts on how publishing industry execs can use social media for good, not evil, and have success in the process.
If you feel like you’re missing something, all the book’s press is over on the press page (woo hoo). But enough of the Carly Simon “You’re So Vain” vein.
